India is known to be a hot country. But since past few years, with the effect of climate change, we are observing extreme temperatures during summer. Due to this, our cooling requirement is soaring and impacting our electricity bill.
With Solar energy becoming cheaper, it has become an easy option to reduce power bill. Installing a solar system can not only reduce the power bill but can also help the environment.
Below we are few different ways to set up solar rooftop system:
1. Solar rooftop system with net metering
Every state is now realizing the potential of solar. States have implemented net metering policy in which home owners can set up solar rooftop systems and generate electricity and feed into grid. The surplus energy will be accounted as energy credit, which they can draw back with in the year.
2. Solar rooftop system with long term contract with the service provider
Many companies in India are working in BOOM model. This means they will Build solar rooftop system, Own, Operate and Maintain. Users don’t have to bear the cost of installation. On the other hand, companies will bear the cost and maintain it. Only thing you have to do is to sign a long term agreement with the service provider that you will purchase electricity generated from solar system instead of purchasing from grid. Service provider will give you electricity at cheaper rate than distribution company. This is a win – win situation for both service provider and you.
3. Solar cooling system
When most of your electricity requirement is for cooling systems like chillers or air conditioners. You can think of this direct option. There are many service providers who will set up solar cooling system by which solar energy can be used to produce a cooling effect. This option can provide you long term cooling solution and reduce cost.
